I went out to the kitchen to fetch delicious cookies and got to hear my mum and dad arguing ("arguing") over which version of The Music Man is best - the original 1962 or the 2003 made-for-tv. My dad said original (bigger band at the end), my mum said tv (cuter costumes).

Yes yes yessss. I bought these a few weeks ago, but didn't have time to take pictures until now. I need a better camera SO BADLY. But oh well. <3

I'd been planning to buy this one for ages. Kissing is always welcome, but Minnie's little foot swinging out of her shoe is my favourite part.

This one was pretty much an impulse buy when I got the other two, but it's really adorable and I'm glad I got it. I love the retro sorta look. Of course, Minnie's probably gonna get fired, but then, who knows? Maybe the fact that he buys fifteen sundaes a week lately will balance out the fact that she neglects the other customers.

Finally - the crown jewel of my collection! Man, man, man. I haunted Ebay for a few months for this pin. It's the one I wanted most out of my whole wishlist. I love this pin so much. If I made a pin, it would be this pin. Just - EEEE.

Maaan, hot chocolate is an art. You gotta get it hot, but not so hot that you burn your tongue, yet hot enough that it doesn't go all lukewarm when you add creamer or milk to it, which will break your heart.

I just made a mocha with a regular Swiss Miss packet, a spoonful of instant decaf and a blurp or two of french vanilla creamer. This is the kind of stuff that nobody needs to know, but I want you to understand how badass I felt when I finished this cup juuust when it was still warm. I feel like a little bit of a failure when a cup goes cold on me through poor planning. Not today, man, not today.

Now that I've gotten that on the internets, finals start tomorrow. CAN WE DO THIS, YES WE CAN DO THIS. Two more days and it is CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS CHRISTMAS.

Saw PatF today. No major spoilers, but it was really, really lovely.

My sister and I agreed, though, that it needed a proper Bad Guy song desperately - Friends on the Other Side is yummy, but needed to be twice as long, with a lot more Guys I Am Taking Over Everything in it.

I have more comments, of course, but I'll spare you. So yeah, movie's not perfect, but it's pretty wonderful. Especially Naveen.

So the test I took this morning - pretty sure it will be the worst score I have ever received on a test in my life. We are talking like, 30%.

And I really wouldn't even care - after all, this is grad school, and anyway, it's not like everyone else was happy with it - except that now I'll have to go to class next week and face the teach, and he is going to think I'm some sort of idiot who cannot do maths.

Which is true, but I didn't want him to know that.

I've suffered enough, in any case - now it's time to relax and NaNo my little heart out.

I love children's books and picture books of all types, especially precious sweet romantic ones with incredible illustrations, and that this is.

Okay, so I've talked about the prince from Beauty and the Beast before.

Well. Knowing that I love picture books of all kinds, and fairy tale books in particular, my mum and sister will pick them up for me from library cast-off sales and such. My mum found me a Disney BatB one a while back, and I flipped through it expectantly, because the prince is always the best part.

I wasn't disappointed.

Yeah.

Apparently, more magical pink smoke around that place than we anticipated, no? But that's okay, maaan, it's coool.

It's awriiiight.

Disney Pin Collection!

First, I'm going to apologize for this camera. It delights in fuzziness and colours never seen by the eyes of man. Nevertheless, this is more or less what my pins look like.

My very first pin! I bought it at Disneyland last summer, and swore up and down that it would be the only pin I bought. So... yeah, never mind that.

The red'ead Minnie pin! This was my second pin, and it was a birthday present from my little sister. This is why all subsequent pins are her fault.

Third pin! Another present from my sister. This one strikes me as so bizarre - but Mickey in a business suit always does that. Whatever he wears to work, it is not this. In any case, it makes me laugh.

Next! Nifty Nineties Mickey. This one comes in one of the Mickey starter packs, and my sister bought the pack after buying the pin solo, so she gave me the extra one. Starting to see why my pin collection is her fault, aren't you? Good.

Jack and Sally Mickey and Minnie! Around this point, I decided I was only going to collect pins that had Mickey and Minnie together (to avoid total bankruptcy), and I stretched that rule for this matched set.

Hmm, I think if any of my pins are total bootlegs, this one is probably it. It's such a clipart pose. But I don't mind - it's cute, and it was impossibly cheap. And it's got Mickey and Minnie.

I broke my Mickey-and-Minnie-only rule again for this one. My sister was getting one (the fink) and asked if I wanted one too. So what could I say?

Another present from my sister. At this point, pins are pretty much the only thing we give each other for birthdays and Christmas. This one, though, was a straight-up 'just because' present, the just because being that she knew I'd really want it. And I did, and I do. Building A Building may or may not be my favourite short, but it's in the top three. And nnng, there's kissing on my pin! <3

DisneySea pin! If you know me at all, you know how I feel about Japanese Disney in general, and DisneySea is no exception. I really love this one, and if you don't understand why, you are clearly not paying attention and should bask in the glory of their hats some more.

Two pictures for this one, so you can appreciate the pull-down cuteness. I fretted over I should buy this one, the somewhat silly reason being that I've never actually been to Disney World. But I decided to get it anyway, and now I'm really glad I did, because it's TOO CUTE. And it's so fluffy. A lot of official MickeyMinnie merch is kind of dull, but whoever designed this pin Gets It.

Last one - my newest pin! I think this is my very favourite. <3 I'd seen it on Pin Pics and really loved it, but it's a Disney Auctions pin, so I didn't think I'd be able to find it. Got lucky, though, and it popped up on Ebay not long after. yessss

And that's that! I've got more Mickey/Minnie junk besides pins, of course, which I may bore you with at some later date. Hooray!

My mum went to Lowe's the other night and came back with, among other things, a great big ShamWow box (!!), because it was apparently on sale for really cheap, and I was like whaaaat, and nobody in my family knew what I was talking about. Not even my baby sister, who is supposed to have my back on this.

I feel so alone. What the heck, guys, get with the internets, GOSH.

It even had that picture of Vince right on the box.

Things aren't all bad, though. I got some sexy Disney pins this week. Also, it's a secret, but I'mma totally gonna try to finally draw a sweet Sailor Moon picture this week. I've been meaning to do so since the beginning of recorded time (seriously, like all through college) and I just haven't gotten around to it. I WAS BUSY OKAY GOSH.

Anyway, that is my modest goal for the next four years: Draw Sailor Moon. Wish me luck!

So, pretty much, I think I can do this whole grad school thing. But I will be honest with you - at 6:30 or so this morning, it looked pretty bleak.

Lunchtime helped. Over senior year I got into this comfy noontime habit of reading Jane Austen in my car with my sammich.

However, I was also thinking how much I would rather be at D23 this weekend than at school. But I don't want to think about D23 because it pains me. I'll try and ignore it until it's over and read about the cool stuff then, just so I won't sit around thinking I am missing it right now why is that happening

Also, today is 9-9-09 - and I realized that I know exactly where I was ten years ago. On 9-9-99, my family went to Six Flags Great Am, and my brother and I rode Shockwave six times without getting off. There was no line because the coaster was old and bumpy and it boxed your ears when you went through the loops, but we didn't care. It's gone now - they tore it down to make room for Superman: Ultimate Flight. Whooaa, I'm so old. I even put gas in my car today all by myself, which is pretty amazing.

I have to leave for school again in fourteen hours - time to watch some movies!

I passed my mother going into the kitchen this morning, and she told me "I was laying awake worrying about you this morning. That means it's time to start panicking about getting you ready for grad school."

I love my mother.

Also, I had a nice conversation with Babes about time travel in movies. We agreed that there are two basic schools of thought - clean time travel, and messy time travel. They are self-explanatory, basically. Messy time travel movies are always about the thing itself and fixing the stuff you screwed up, whereas clean time travel is where you get to discover the new world with Columbus or whatever you wanna do. Clean is more fun, but messy is more interesting.

Oh, and Val - Murder on the Links! The twist was lame, but at least we got Teddy. The ending was hideous, though, so I'm really not sure we came out on top after all. Next time, let's find one with Japp - I missed him.

Now I'm going to draw princess dresses that are SO FLOOFY. People don't know what I'm really capable of, because I keep the worst of it off the internets. You'd be shocked if you knew.

So I finally know why everybody has always been all oooh Floyd Gottfredson!

(If you don't already know who he is, you won't care when I tell you.)

He's the guy who drew the Mickey Mouse comics for years and years, and wrote a nice chunk of them too.

(Told you.)

People who care about this sort of thing always talk about how Mickey used to have a personality, and Floyd Gottfredson is part of the reason why. Personally, I never minded the 'nice' version, but it's not hard to see that the character has been pretty watered down over time, at some points worse than others. But, again, I don't really mind - niceness is an acceptable quality.

Still, the kid used to have some cheek, and it's hard not to dig that a great deal. All I know is that I'd die to see the following scene play out on House of Mouse or something.

Uh huh. That's RIGHT.

My brother and my second-oldest cousin graduated today - my brother with a Master's and my cousin finishing his grad work for PT.

Between birthdays and all, it's just been one family event after another all summer, so it's darn lucky we all get along.

Anyway, the commencement was nice, even if I did have to get up at seven-thirty on a Sunday to get there. At our uni (I say ours because that's where I just finished undergrad), they ask you not to applaud until everyone from that school is finished, so they can rattle off the names without taking ten years. But somebody always does it anyway, and usually includes a huge screech of what logically must be delight, but sounds like having your nose hairs tweezered, as well. For whatever reason, I find this really annoying. I mean, dude, did you disobey your parents too? Are you a troublemaker?

Besides, it makes you both look bad. As everybody knows - the louder the cheers, the closer the student came to not making it.

Of course, we are all smartypants in my family, so we sit there silent, with no readable facial expressions. As it should be.

But no, it was nice. Only four years of graduate work and I get to go to another one!

Big news!

I finally got rid of the stupid keyboard that I've detested for months.

I only had that one because my brother had an extra when I needed one, so I just took it. But it was horrible. A sample of my complaints:

-Keyboard had a really huge base and a ton of extra buttons, so was bloated and oversized on my tiny desk
-Paint was super cheap and half the letters wore off in like, six months.
-Keyboard had a lighted scrollbar and a bunch of other random lights, and I leave my computer on at night half the time, so I had to cover up the lights, which couldn't be turned off.
-The keyboard wouldn't work if you hit reset - only if I shut down completely and rebooted.
-Running a pencil sharpener on the same desk sometimes made the keyboard stop working too.
-One of the extra buttons on the keyboard shut down the computer. Guess how many times I bumped it by mistake.
-The gaps between keys were really broad, which means the board collected dust and eraser shavings like they were going out of style.

Anyway, now I have a spiffy new keyboard and I'm so happy. The only drawback is that the touch is totally different, and I'm making a lot of typos while I'm getting used to it. But still.

You know. It's the little victories you treasure.

It could be Playstation or whatever the kids are playing nowadays - but there was something so charming about the days of pixelly little sprites.

-Alice's first weapon would be a ribbon that she snaps at things. Later on, she could gain a croquet mallet and a paintbrush - maybe even a parasol eventually!

-The Hatter would be the first person to join her party. He fights with china and silver, of course - teapots and cups and spoons and saucers.

-The March Hare would use food items. He might also be the 'healer' of the party, dispensing restorative bonbons or somesuch.

-The Cheshire Cat would be an optional character - if he doesn't join your party at the initial meeting, he'll disappear for a while, only to pop up again at the Queen's palace later in the game. He snaps at things with his tail and can attack an enemy from behind. Sweet!

-Healing items would be Drink Me bottles. Carrots would restore MP or tech points. Mushrooms would cure status effects. Cups of tea would revive a fallen party member.

-The first boss would be a giant cookie tin that says EAT ME, but when you approach it, it opens to reveal huge razor-sharp teeth and snaps at you for damage.

-Final boss? Ooo, some sort of Queen of Hearts/Jabberwocky fusion, heck yes.

What would you add?
